Objectify CMS Optional Features

The following includes Optional Content Management System functionality provided as part of the Objectify CMS implementation which can be configured for client specific requirements.

Advanced CMS Search

Objectify Search utilises Apache Lucene which includes the following key features:

  • Advanced search syntax presented in a user-friendly way, e.g. Search for all the words, Search for the exact phrase.
  • Ability to set a site to send index updates to any other Objectify site
  • Publishes on that site will then update index on all target sites
  • Instant index updates across all target sites for publish and unpublish
  • No separate indexing system
  • Supports search for a wide range of media types
  • Reports on search outcomes; missing results, common search terms
  • Alternative search result suggestions when integrated with the Objectify KMS Thesaurus, which provides "Did you mean..." and "You might be interested in..." results
  • Cross site searching for multiple Objectify managed sites.
  • Advanced metadata filtering, e.g. find only records from New South Wales.
  • Compulsory and /or automatic metadata entry

Page Feedback

The Feedback module allows for the collection of feedback from the live site on content pages and search results pages. The wording is generally "How did you find this content?" with "Couldn't find what I was looking for" to "Excellent" options, and a field to collect free-text comments. This feedback can then be viewed in the CMS

Forms Management

The Objectify forms management tool allows authors to create a form in a content page. The user adds elements i.e. radio buttons to the form by selecting from a menu. By right-clicking on the form each element can be separately configured to be mandatory, part of a group, comply with a pattern. Forms can output to email, XML files, and also redirect to a URL or Objectify forms passed or failed pages to which CMS users can author meaningful automatic acknowledgement of the form receipt. The XML content will be used to record information about the Objectify managed form responses. Style sheets will be used to convert the XML output to a CSV file. This tool includes the enhancement to create help/instructional text for any form element, which is visible at the user's request.

Live Site Content Contribution

Live Site Content Contribution (LSCC) forms can be created for virtually any content areas - these may be flat page content, for collection indexes, or in a more sophisticated application, the Knowledge Management System - for example, both the Events Manager and Customer Service modules include such forms in their standard configurations.

LSCC allows people outside of the system to contribute content to the live site.  Content can be moderated before being published on the live site, or go through a custom workflow for viewing by non-system approvers such as managers.

Examples of content collected by the live site are:

  • Job, Contract and Tender submissions
  • Events
  • Feedback to be posted to the live site on an initiative
  • Research findings (could be field or even a school-engagement project)
  • Bright ideas posted blog-style

Secure Authoring

Objectify has a sophisticated secure authoring module that ensures validated live site users can access information on the live site using a username and password. The module also allows for restricted authoring in the CMS.
Where a person may be assigned a 'live site user', measures will be in place so that public users do no gain access to the staff only sections accidentally.

Page Subscription

Ability for live site users to "subscribe" to page changes so that they record their email address, the system tracks who has subscribed to each page, on a new publish of a subscribed page the system emails the associated email addresses with a notification of a new publish and the user can click a link in the email to access the current version of that page. One email is sent with the consolidated page links each day.

Text / Font Size

Text Only is a separate template whch is developed for a text only view to fulfil government accessibility requirements.
Dynamic Font option enables live site font to be increased or decreased dependant on web site visitors needs.

Email a Friend

The Objectify Content Management System Email Friend functionality enables visitors to your web site to send an email message with a link to any page on your web site.

RSS Feeds

RSS feeds and other externally-managed content can be easily managed by Objectify via Scripting Objects.  External information is presented on the live site within Objectify-managed templates and styles so the user has a seamless experience of the information.  Objectify can also aggregate content to a 3rd party by providing content in XML format, providing an api or providing an index.
